The Disco Ball

A big round cardboard disc covered in hundreds of small silver mirror tiles, worn on your chest like a disco ball. It throws light around the room at every party and looks far more expensive than the afternoon it takes.

SKILL
Some cutting

What you need

  • Cardboard, about 60 cm across
  • Silver mirror foil card or mirror stickers, cut into small squares
  • Strong craft glue or hot glue
  • Rope for two shoulder straps
  • A silver foil or glitter headband

How to make it

  1. 1

Draw around a large plate or a bin lid to make a circle, and cut it out.

  2. 2

Cut the mirror foil into 2 cm squares. A paper trimmer makes it quick.

  3. 3

Glue the squares on in rows, leaving a hair's width between them, working from the middle out. Let the edge squares overhang a little so it looks round.

  4. 4

Punch two holes near the top, thread the rope for shoulder straps and knot it at the back.

  5. 5

Add a silver headband and finish the look with sparkly eyeshadow.

Make it better

  • Stand near a lamp or a phone torch and the whole room twinkles.
  • If you cannot find mirror card, cut the shiny inside of crisp packets.

Questions

Will the squares stay on?

Hot glue holds best. Press each one down for a few seconds, and keep the cardboard flat while it dries.

Wear it in front of your own haunted CCTV

Upload four photos of your house and Cursed Cam turns them into a night-time security monitor where something is very wrong. Put it on the TV by the door.
